MfA is proud to announce:

The Adam Bisesi Servant Leadership Award

And our very first recipient, Lauren Maes!

Adam Bisesi was a loving and devoted son, friend, and disciple of Jesus Christ.  He was also a gay man who came to accept himself as a beloved child of God, fully and completely created in the image of God, with each and every part of him, including his sexuality reflecting the image of the One who had created him.  Adam graduated from Milligan in 2006 with a B.A. in Bible/Ministry and dedicated his life to serving God and others through the church and education.  As a teacher, Adam ended every class with the encouragement to “Be kind to one another.”  He modeled a life of servant-leadership and service—two of Milligan’s core values.  Adam died tragically on April 2, 2019, but his example lives on through all who knew and love him.

The Adam Bisesi Servant Leadership Award is presented annually by MilliganforAll to a member of the Milligan community who exemplifies a life of leadership and service in the struggle for a more just, equitable, sustainable, peaceful, and loving world, one where ALL of God’s beloved children are accepted and honored.  Recipients of the award are chosen by the Board of Directors of MfA in consultation with the Board of Advisors.

The inaugural recipient of the Adam Bisesi MilliganforAll Leadership and Service Award is Lauren Maes, in recognition of her efforts to start and support Sanctuary, a support group for LGBTQIA+ members of the Milligan community. Incredible work, Lauren!
